Why do people replay single players games they've already played before? (alien.top)

I'm talking about those that play the same games 2 or more times. You already know how the game plays and you know how the story goes. Wouldn't you rather spend that time playing a new game? I've only got so much time to play and a I have huge backlog. I never found myself picking an game I've played already over a new one. I'd like to know your thoughts.

For the same reason I rewatch movies I enjoy, or relisten to albums, or reread books, or travel to places I've been to already. In some cases I enjoyed the the first experience, and every subsequent time, I notice something new. Sometimes the experience is different depending on what new life experiences I've had or what kind of headspace I'm in.

Other times I want to just sink into something that feels familiar and cozy. I'm not looking to dive into a new experience with the time commitment that may go with that. I just want something I can go in and out of on a whim just to relax.
