Basically what’s a game that you’ve played that seemed so mind blowingly unique at the time but for one reason or another the game never took off and other developers didn’t pick up and run with it either.

I like games where you can lock yourself out of questlines for killing/upsetting certain NPCs rather than just having invincible quest givers.

While it's not something new, plot armour for important NPCs became more popular in the last 10-20yrs.
