I don't watch Real Madrid too often. Is he scoring loads because they haven't got much of a striker right now? Is it an extreme purple patch? Or is he simply this good and the scoring rate is likely to continue? His rate was significantly lower at Dortmund (though still very good for his position) after all.

I don't think so, I imagine it's a bit like a new manager bounce. He's starting off great but he'll probably decline, most likely next season. It's hard to score consistently as a midfielder. A lot of his goals are kinda tap ins anyways. But if he does keep it up then good for him, he's a great talent.
