As everyone else says, online connection.

And it's not just EA.

Doom eternal works without internet, sure...

But do I really need to sit and wait for the game to check my internet connection every time I go to the settings?

Crazy.

Last time I went to play Doom Eternal on Steam it did not work without an internet connection. Did they patch that st some point?

I mean that doesn’t happen offline with every steam game right?

I had an internet outage a few months ago. I work from home and so I couldn’t work for a few hours and decided to play a game.

Tried Epic Launcher.. it requires internet so I couldn’t even open it. Tried Steam, it works offline! Decided to play a little bit of AC Origins. I boot up the game and it tries to launch the stupid ass Ubisoft launcher, which DOES require internet. Fucking hell.

Yeah there’s been times I’ve wanted to play something like GTA IV on my steam deck on a plane or on the go, but every time Rockstar Game Launcher just kicks me out because “I don’t have internet”

Like yeah of course I don’t dicknips now please just let me play this single-player game that’s older than your worthless launcher

It's their fun little way to see why you keep on adjusting the sound volume.
