We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

I’m no expert and new to this sub but I’ve been making music for 10 years and have amassed 2TB of .wav files that I use for music production.
I store these on an 8TB HDD.
The second copy is an automated backup that occurs every morning at 4AM to an 18TB HDD using Veeam Agent (not Backup and Recovery!), which is free!
I am currently working on also backing the 8TB HDD up to the cloud via BackBlaze.
This system works great for me!
