Idk how Back 4 Blood was far less creative than L4D2 given the time gap. I played through a large portion when it released and I kept saying "maybe next level will be an interesting theme, or mechanic, or even an enemy" nope it just continued to be basic as hell. So irritated with that game. I'm not an even an enormous L4D fan, I just had an itch to scratch right around that time.

B4B was the evolution that the L4D franchise needed for a 3rd game. Unfortunately, Darwin was out sick when B4B was in development and the evolution was botched as horribly as possible.
