So I went and checked. That thing retails for €1100 around here. And I don't know about you guys, but when I buy a phone that costs that kinda money I expect a solid piece of hardware. Not something where the manufacturer decided to skimp out of rigidity because they were being cheap. Not because of some aesthetic choice, no this is just cheap.

And they expect these things to last 7 years? Yeah right.

The Pixel 8 starts at €699.

€729 in this country. The pro model is €1100. Either way, this is not acceptable for an expensive piece of hardware that we are expected to carry on our person at all times.

I think that's similar to the combined cost of all the smartphones I've owned, over more than a decade

They have their A line of phones that get released at a later date, usually like half the price. But I don't know if they're releasing an 8A or not. Also that's the unlocked / full price, not with a carrier discount and stuff
