I’m currently reading The Duke and I and the author is constantly using the word “acerbic”. I had never heard of the word before now and had to google the definition. The word has shown up so much that I’m tempted to go through the book and count its appearances lol.

Have you noticed any authors having favorite words that they use page after page?

Yes! In Fourth Wing, Rebecca Yarros uses the word “nausea” SO MANY times (ad nauseum) and it’s awful when you’re trying to read this book while eating too lol

She also describes 90% of facial expressions as “jaw tightened,” “jaw clenched,“ “jaw ticked,” “jaw clicked” and it drove me absolutely crazy.

And! Over and over says “the expression left no room for discussion” - like find another phrase please.
