Nah bro you were always trash.
On a serious note, I am around the same age, and while I dont know if I have really gotten worse, I have 100% lost my "killer instinct" and avoid PvP and competitive multiplayer almost entirely. I game purely to relax now, not dunk on people like the old days.
Losing the "killer instinct" is probably the best way to describe gaming as you get older. Yeah you lose a bit of reaction time getting older, but I wouldn't say it's as dramatic of a falloff as people suggest. I'm starting to notice it now at 34 years old, I can still play at a high level if I really try... but these days I just wanna chill and enjoy a game, and playing on those high difficulties is just stressful. Where I'd feel accomplished and excited to play through games at harder difficulties when I was younger, these days I just get annoyed and mad I wasted my free time getting all worked up.
The desire to be a sweatlord diminishes when you have a mortgage, a car note, and a family to feed.
I'm looking to get drunk and get up to some shenanigans. Or wander Skyrim for the 10,000th time.
This. I just don't give a shit anymore about PVP or ramming my head into a wall on insane difficulty haha. I play COD with my son and his friends because they need me to fill a squad. I'm always last. ALWAYS. But they don't care. I much prefer games I can go at my own pace.
