Pretty simple pocket hole construction with poplar and edge banded birch plywood, painted black with an oil based paint.

I have never worked with caning before, and probably won't again. ๐Ÿ˜†. Getting it aligned and pulled tight was a chore.

That does look much simpler and cleaner than mine!

And if it works, I wouldn't overthink it - you built it for a purpose, and it works for that.
