I honestly think this would be for the better. I'd much rather have an internet where you have to pay a small monthly fee to use the popular websites, instead of making money off of spying on you and selling your data... I feel like it would be a lot healthier
though honestly the best solution to me would be to just nationalize social media, have like a state/continent provided neocities or something
It's a false dichotomy though since the internet used to largely be neither full of trackers nor pay-for, without being a public utility
