I'm cooking for 17 people in a weeks's time (!).. SIL's fam bam is coming over for bro's and wife's wedding I just heard this today. I don't have a commercial kitchen.
fack
Rent a big fridge for a week. Hot pot is an option. Maybe two or three hotpots with different flavour profiles. Or a bbq (immersion in Aussie culture). Satay sticks or similar. Party pies and potat caks! Anything that can be prepped ahead of time.
ooh these ideas will consume me. potat caks though. That is an excellent idea.
How many meals will there be and do you have to cook on your own?
suggestions
giant pot of soup. quiches and pies, salads, chocolate mousses, vanilla/strawberry mousses, cheese and fruit board
Borrow a few slow cookers? Easy to do a 2.5 - 3 kg chunk of pork in each of them, do some amazing pulled pork creation at the other end of it. Don't need a special kitchen or any magic catering considerations.
You can likely do lamb/beef just as easily, but pork is my go-to for crowd cooking.
