Disgusting BBC article goes happily along with the framing that this is due to equal pay settlements, nothing to do with the dozens of real-estate-industry backed money pits that took the place of building infrastructure for anywhere besides the city center. it looks like the council had to pay £109.2 million and most of the return went to west midlands businesses and communities, not the council itself
