I keep getting an error when trying to upload a profile picture or a picture to any post.

This is the error message: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be and/or how to fix it?

Yesterday I tried uploading an image as big as 218kb when it didn't work. But it seems to work now.

BTW. I uploaded a profile image larger than 1MB (it's 1,5 MB). So this limitation doesn't seem to work there? You can try downloading it to see it for yourself. ( https://lemmy.fmhy.net/pictrs/image/1f1650f1-1d1c-4954-ad30-7c9a249fdf71.png?format=png )

I don't know the actual limit, it might be larger. It's not set and it's whatever the default is, which said it's 1MB according to search results.
