Does anyone know why these French protesters oppose high-speed rail?
Environmental concerns and/or nimby.
This article doesn't bother reporting on the protesters' concern, but there are some good newspapers that do (french).
I assume you can find automatic translation services if needed.
Cost and environmental impact of the project. Main opposing groups are Soulèvements de la Terre ("Earth Uprisings") and No-TAV ("No the high-speed train").
