The instance seems to be mostly right wing trolls. I know defederating is unpopular but I don't think much is to be lost in this case and it can save the mods some headaches.

Ahhh it most likely means it's just a "new comment", comments are also highlighted on other instances. Maybe they just highlighted it a bit on the EH instance for easier noticing? Themes™️
Hmm, I click the link and exploding-heads.com in general doesn't open for me. So unless I got IP-banned I'm not sure what's happening. Doesn't seem like he's in my block list. I checked the modlog and he doesn't seem to have been banned anywhere on my instance.
note: these removals are all on beehaw.org, specifically this post. Maybe he was banned on beehaw after they defederated us?
