It's also been limited to the US only so that's going to reduce the number of sales.

I get why they are doing it, because of the custom fitting, but it's not like Europe doesn't have Apple stores.

I don’t think the reason has anything to do with custom fitting. Apple has stores all over, just like in the U.S. I reckon the main issue is Sony being unable to produce more than 400,000 headsets worth of displays in year one which naturally makes an international release difficult
