I'm a huge Aljo fan. I've been following him since before Marlon kneed the living fuck out of him. There was some acting and some calculating in the first title fight with Yan, I believe. Yan was handing Aljo his ass in that fight.

This goal sheet is something that ambitious people do. You have to have ambition to become a UFC champion. I think that in the first title fight with Yan, after Yan landed the illegal knee, Aljo saw a win for a UFC belt in a fight that he was losing, and he is just ambitious enough that after seeing how obvious and flagrant the knee was, he put on a performance while he was deciding what to do. Which, in the end was to win by DQ Which means he won without honor. His terrible acting just made it that much worse.

A lot of fighters would do what Anthony Smith did in the Jon Jones fight and continue the fight after taking an illegal knee to the head when he was already losing. Doing that has more honor.

Let's talk money. How much money did Anthony Smith lose by not getting his win money that night? $100,000 conservatively? How much money comes with being a UFC champion? $500,00 each fight or so? This will be Aljo's fourth purse at a champion's pay on top of whatever money and perks come with being a UFC Champion over 2 1/2 years. At some point, what Aljo did is a business decision. He made the right business decision for his family. It made people hate him and want to see him lose.
