Rick and Morty's trajectory is such a bummer. The first couple seasons are just phenomenal. They do this perfect dance down the line of obscene sophomoric humor juxtaposed against real character drama and real life issues. It's what made the humor work, because they treated serious underlying topics with a vulgar absurdist lens.

But it's like they forgot that the magic was that balance, and instead assumed that saying fuck and cum and shit a lot is funny on it's own, which it really isn't most of the time.
