My new commercial portable hotplate arrived yesterday, so I've been testing it out this morning. It works really well with my pressure-canner, so one of my biggest concerns about a gasless cooking future has been solved. Because it's portable it also makes my preserving setup a bit more flexible which is nice.

Well, the aircon is actually an expense for the landlord (AKA mum). I'm just spending the anticipated electicity savings 🤣
