Why is matrix a cesspool? What makes it more of a cesspool than telegram?
CSAM bots advertising illegal telegram groups. Absolutely disgusting. These were prevalent in multiple public channels including the piracy one that I briefly checked out.
I understand matrix is completely unregulated, but I don't want to see even the words describing such filth
It's not completely unregulated at all. The mods totally have the power to ban bots, just find a place that's actually moderated at all
Did that not exist on telegram? How did telegram manage it?
Not to the piracy channels that I'm on now. They're moderated.
Moderated matrix channels don't seem to have these bots. Idk I found these bots too on some public channels, I left thinking those channels were fake.

How do signal chats work if I already use signal with my full name? Can I say for a group chat to just use my nick instead?
I run a second Signal for that in the secure folder of my Samsung phone.
You'd need a second Signal instance. There's only global privacy options.
