I've just started learning Cymraeg on Duolingo, but I have a question. Should I try and use a Welsh accent when I'm speaking the language, or would it be better to use my English accent (which is sort of casual RP with a hint of Northumbrian)?

I’m not fluent or familiar with welsh but I am bilingual.

You should try to copy native speakers accents. It will help you tremendously the more you move along in your language journey. If you speak in a normal English accent and pronunciation you’ll probably sound really weird to the point of unintelligibility. I know this is true for Spanish so I would assume for other languages it’s the same.

Good advice. Thanks!
