ban-hammer

Just another jilted alt right dude who was fine when he thought the system was for him and then got burned and lashed out.

No praxis, only edge and entitlement.

My authority to decide this? None, don't @ me.

I believe in separating the art from the artist.

[–] Yukiko@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (6 children)

I refuse this notion as that's what a lot of Harry Potter fans say to justify their bullshit.

[–] Verenata@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

They are the bad takes haver after all

Guess what he rated as 5 stars on good reads :-)

It's locked down now, but this is a screenshot I managed to grab chatting with a friend (unfortunately doesn't have provenance attached so you'll have to trust me).

I guess this is what happens the second they read another book.

[–] Sulvor@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

Hilarious, thank you

[–] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

Uh aktually, the first three Harry Potter books are good for what they are.

[–] Verenata@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

LMAO! Wonder what his opinion on Fight Club is 😂

[–] BadTakesHaver@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

absolutely, this is just the one exception

Except death of the author doesn’t make sense with Harry Potter because Rowling’s worldview drips from those fucking books.

That's not what death of the author is about barthes-shining

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

Death of the author doesn't make any sense for anything. The art is created by the artist, imo it's inseparable.

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Thats bad art with or without jk ratfuck

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

Never read the books or watched the movies but something about the protrayal of the goblins rubbed me the wrong way.

The weirdest one for me is the guy who wrote Altered Carbon. Who is a transphobic centrist who wrote three books about how transhumanist Maoists are cool and good (apparently wasn't his intention).

[–] AcidSmiley@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

Being a centrist usually requires a ton of "communism bad" brainworms and being a transphobe always requires a ton of patriarchal brainworms. Neither of these are opinions you arrive at rationally, they are the result of people taking a wrong intellectual turn due to indoctrination, and both of these wrong turns can be found among all kinds of people, even those who in theory agree that Maoist goals and bodily autonomy are cool and good. These people will only agree these principles are cool and good as long as they are not exposed to the socially ingrained triggers of their fears, like a crowd of workers waving red banners, or people transing their gender.

Chuds really ruined that phrase, for sure. It's for shaking your head while reading Mists of Avalon on the bus, not cosplaying as a fascist kid wizard.

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

shaking your head while reading Mists of Avalon

That was 100% my reaction when I was reading that and in a world of Lothars and Morgaines and Taleisins we are introduced to a guy named "Kevin."
