oh man that is so the opposite with me. I peaked academically senior year of high school and freshmen year of college. My college grades were a start at the top and then slow decline. I actually went 5 years to college and if it was any longer I might have not made it. (did come out with two majors which was such a huge mistake. darn those college nerd friends influence.)
That sounds familiar. I knew lots of folks whose motivation was highest at the start of college and then the grind started wearing on them by the end.
My lopsided experience was mostly due to undiagnosed ADHD. "Gifted" when young, distracted by girls and unknown ADHD as a teen, then finally diagnosed at 20 and my grades came back around.
You were able to be distracted by girls? Fucking nerd. I wish I had gotten my nose out of the books long enough to be distracted.
I had a buddy who was sorta the opposite. Barely got into the university as a PE major which had the easiest requirements and transfered to microbiology and his grades had a steady increase from freshman year to the graduation. it was him and another guy who got us all to go five years to pick up the second major. It was a situation were we had a class that is only offered every two years so we would need to pick it up on a semester anyway and the majors requirements already gave you a minor so it was like. Might as well pick up a bunch of high level classes and make it a major. ugh. yeah I was burned out big time at the end.
