Oh please, how else is Pastor Smith supposed to diddle kids? /s
You jest, but that's exactly what they want.
In most places in the US, churches are exempt from so many laws and regulations regarding power dynamics & abuse, mandatory reporting, andvthey typically do not vet people who volunteer to work with children, etc.
The amount of CSA in the church is literally insane. Much of it goes unreported & """"worked out"""" through the church, as well.
It's one of the most disturbing things that gets completely ignored in favor of "basement pizza parlors" or some horseshit because these zealots don't want to acknowledge that their precious religious country clubs are havens for p×dophiles.
Do you know what happens to victims of these? I’m really interested in the assault and trauma in the church.
I’m looking for some good reading on it.
I know exactly what happens to the victims, because I was one of them.
There have been many many incidents of child abuse, grooming, and taking advantage of emotionally vulnerable adults in the churches in my area. Unfortunately, any news articles will link to my location, so I can't give them. If you're looking for studies, I'm unfamiliar with any.
If you put out an inquiry on abuse experienced in the church, I'm sure you will find many many many stories. But prepare to be angry at the lack of justice.
