But the outlets look funny.

Maybe I need to self-crit my electronic chauvinism.

The South African and Indian 240V outlets don't look too bad compared to the European monstrosities lol

That World of Engineering logo looks almost like communist iconography.

so this has to be the first time me, britain, india, pakistan south africa agree on something but their formats are the only objectively correct ones

That only objectively incorrect though are those with only 2 holes, you really should have a ground wire how much money/time are saving not having one?(I have to belief that a slight increase in manufacturing costs etc is easily offset by the number of shocks and electrocutions you have to deal with )

That's Pakistan

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I'm pretty sure that's Pakistan and it's likely because of colonisation rather than some mutual agreement.

The picture is wrong about the Australian/China plugs, one of them should be upside down

Controversial take from an American, I’m a big fan of the UK plugs. Looks like the Australian and Chinese ones work similarly, I’m not familiar with them though.

Any without a ground wire can get fucked, and the circular holes weird me out for some reason.

Also a note from my wife who studied in Japan, most outlets in newer construction now have a ground wire. Also some American devices work with their plugs, the only difference is that one side is larger in the US and in Japan they’re the same size.

the UK apparently is using the Malaysian/Hong Kong type of plugs which are annoying as shit. every time you go to HK (and Malaysia) you have to remember to bring the stupid converter because they insist on using stupid special sockets. the plugs are fucking huge and bulky and annoying.

I like the swiss and brazilian ones
