52 Weeks of Art

Every week we'll have a new prompt. All visual artistic mediums are welcome whether it's pencil, paint, digital, sculpture, embroidery, or whatever medium you prefer or want to try. Prompts might include a technique, style, subject, color, or other inspiration. Creativity is the point so feel free to stretch the prompt as far as you want.

If you missed a prompt, you are still welcome to post your project later. Please include the prompt in your post title.

MODERATORS

We'll begin doing prompts the first week of January. For now, I'd like to brainstorm a list of 52 prompts. I can make them all myself if necessary, but it would be great to get input/ideas from people who want to participate.

Here's what I have so far, in no particular order:

  1. 3 Dimensional
  2. Collage
  3. Negative space
  4. Outside
  5. White
  6. Ugly
  7. Fur
  8. Nightmare
  9. Season
  10. Tiny
  11. Light
  12. Still life
  13. Cute
  14. Metallic
  15. Give away (make a present for someone)
  16. Abstract
  17. Inspired by famous art
  18. Portrait
  19. Inspired by a meme
  20. Put a bird on it
  21. Landscape
  22. Movement
  23. Time
  24. Sadness
  25. Joy
  26. Memory

Please feel welcome to comment with ideas or tweaks to the ones I've mentioned.

You've already covered many aspects in your list.

I would have suggested 'Smile' but I think your '25 joy' could very well cover that already.

Regarding the prompts:

  • 'Something you don't like'. I would most probably sketch/paint... a banana :p
  • Just next to your '10 Tiny', add a 'huge' or a 'gigantic'?
  • Your morning (day, evening,...) in one image.

Regarding the medium used, maybe put an occasional challenge? Anything one can think of in order to challenge ourself out of our comfort zone and our (beloved and so comfy) personal preferences ;)

Things like 'use a medium you would normally not' (ie, I would use my iPad instead of paper and pen), or 'use a limited selection of colours' (or colours you would not use, or just B&W),...
