UV light damages the plastics that the helmet is made of. Impacts, even small impacts, compress the foam. Temperature fluctuations burst the bubbles in the foam and cause stress which weakens the plastic.

The paragraph explains why even if it doesn’t explain how.

It does not provide enough information to make a rational decision with. Especially when that's the entire focus of the article.

Even the level of detail in your post would have been an improvement, even though it's still significantly lacking.

If you want to take advice from vague blog spam that's your business. I'd prefer not to.
