So unless it's an exotic one of a kind piece, it's likely made in China and can be bought for less than $50 USD direct from China. There are sites online that sell thick glass (like ThickAssGlass). But most smoke shops are overpriced for what you're getting.
PS - did you know that most clear glass you see in smoke shops is not even real boro laboratory grade glass? It's actually a cheaper softer "soda-lime glass" which is not as durable.
Depends entirely on your objectives. For smoking, a longer neck helps smooth out the vapor - although extra water chambers and ice picks to hold ice cubes is beneficial for smoking.
For vaporbonging you need a much smaller piece with less water to retain the flavor of the vapor.
Lot of really good advice from everyone.
If you are smoking flower, get something easy to clean. All those fancy bubblers, showerheads, and whatever else just make it a little bit harder to clean and frankly do not enhance MY smoke. One option is to plan on buying a new cheap soda-lime glass bong for $30 from Wish.com (or similar) every year. Adding an ash catcher is always nice for easier cleanup too. Or invest in an ultra-expensive thick Pyrex or quartz and treat it very well.
Most of the web and headshops around here have the same $30 wish.com bong for $80+. Total rip off.
I recommend these things because 1) I smoke a lot of flower and resin builds up quick 2) I break bongs all the time!!! 3) I'm lazy but like to clean my bong daily.
I broke my last expensive bong ($250) from a custom glass blower. Not going to waste the money anymore. It should have been on the shelf like a fancy hotrod for special occasions and the daily bong is the daily driver.
Cheers!
