if i post or comment on reddit, anything at all, my account will be suspended instantly. i think they have black listed my ISP or maybe my entire country. i can appeal the suspension every day but nobody will read it. i literally can't use reddit.

What country is that? I'm curious if they're also racists.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

it's obviously not racism. don't be a clown.

it's laziness and incompetence. it's a huge problem for many smaller countries outside the western world. you are blocked from using various services across the internet constantly. they want to filter malicious traffic, and they don't have many users from your country, so they blacklist the entire ASN.

the infuriating thing about Reddit is that they have an appeals process, and they're just ignoring all of the appeals. it is known that appealing a suspension does nothing. it's been this way for years.

This is a dumb argument. If they banned Finland it's OK but if they banned Congo they're racists?

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 8 points 1 month ago

Obviously. Stupid sexy Finns.

[–] Treachery4524@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

It's both wrong? But racism is not the word to use here

Drag thinks there are probably people who are racist against Finns. Americans were taught to think white people are one race, but that's not what people in Europe believe. Drag looked it up on Wikipedia's List Of Ethnic Slurs and found two slurs against Finns. One invented by Americans and one invented by Russians.

Banning all Finns or all Congolese would both be racist.

Finns is not a race, it could be an ethnicity, but not even that, since you have multiple ones in the country.

Doesn't need to be a race to have racism against it. Racism can be against perceived race or racialised characteristics. Michael Jackson got his skin disorder racialised and suffered racism because of it. People accused him of trying to become white. Logic doesn't factor into racism.

Because "white" is a race...
