100%

It happens all the time and I love it. Gives me an excuse to practice my toddler level Chinese.

There's no malice and the kids are cute as hell.

The adults do it too. Sometimes they give me free beer and cigarettes. Sometimes even free food or meals

Me and a fan:

Are they amazed to see white people or something? Lmao This is a new level of white privilege

Pretty much. Black people too. It depends where you go though. Beijing or Shanghai noone it's going to give two shits. Go inland and yeah, you get treated like a celebrity. I'm on a budget out here so I'm taking all the freebies I can get. Sorry, not sorry.

They're even more amazed to see non white people. Even more so on smaller non touristic places.

It's not about race, it's about novelty and curiosity.

I felt like a rockstar, kids highfiving me and the elderly asking to take pictures with me and my partner.

I didn’t have anyone talk to me like this, I was expecting it from seeing it so often online. I was with my wife though, so maybe that had something to do with it. I did hear a lot of 老外 though haha

I'm in some very non touristy places. Trying to keep the outgoings as low as possible
