In most schools in the US not really actually. They teach you to memorize what is on the standardized tests so they can meet some arbitrary metrics and secure more public funds for performing according to the metrics set by a bunch of Karens on school boards and geriatric state legislators.

They don't even teach people how to source shit anymore or how to be media literate online like they did back when the internet was becoming a thing.

If I could add one thing to the curriculum of every high school in America there would be a required media literacy class and the course material would be to listen to every single episode of citations-needed Citations Needed.
