The difference in current trajectory of Merc vs. Aston? With Merc he would have a good chance of getting wins next season and Antonelli is not certain to get into Merc after one year, especially if Alonso out performed George.
Aston are getting the new wind tunnel and poached a lot of talent. Plus the ~~GP2~~ Honda engine. They might sink, they might swim, but the trajectory after this year may not be so clear cut.
Very unlikely that they turn it around before 26 to the point that they can win a straightforward race. It's so far off for Fernando he'll be older than Brundle before he gets a class leading car again.
At his age I would have taken the Merc, 2 wins out of 3 and could have been 3 out of 3. Merc are far more likely to be at the front than Aston in the short and long term. This wasn't a choice between Aston and Alpine...
Maybe they hold off on antonelli for one more year but if you think they’re dropping George for Alonso then I have a beach in Montana to sell you.
Aston is full building for 26 regs, new factory facilities should help them have similar success to last years big bump. There’s every chance Merc fucks up the new regs twice in a row
If you think any team would keep an underperforming driver whose dad doesn't own the team then you've already purchased that beach.
Aston haven't shown that they can fix things in the short term is what you are saying, Alonso can't wait two years at his age and doing so is mad.
