!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

They’re just used by people that hate birds and/or war vets

[–] Ragnarok314159@sopuli.xyz 5 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Yeah no. We all joke at the VFW about this argument and I have yet to meet someone who actually experiences some shit that does the “fireworks scary!” stuff.

I am certain they are out, but most of us don’t care. What we do care about is being used as a whole to justify some anti firework agenda. Most of us like them.

That’s just one of the thousand VA “The More You Know” documents they hand to us.

╭ ͟ʖ╮ Talk to them about it not being a real thing, I don’t know what you expect me to do about it

Try spending a new year's eve in e.g. Germany.

everybody above the age of 15 can and will start fireworks in close vicinity to everyone else doing it. You do not feel safe.

And dogs, horses, and other domesticated pets/ animals.

[–] Sweetpeaches69@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

And coyotes!

I lost all love for the 4th of July when the sun was going down and I saw a beautiful coyote across my fence like 5 feet from me. He locked eyes with me and looked so terrified, it took a little bit of my soul. He was panting so hard. He was even looking at me like he was pleading me to help him, but I couldn't because he's, well, a coyote. He stayed looking at me for almost 2 whole minutes before he went back into the brush.

I still think about that every 4th.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Anyone that can feel pity for coyotes is a good egg.

[–] Sweetpeaches69@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Aw, thanks! I try!

or war vets

Elaborate on why that's a bad idea for Canadians and Americans in 2024

If you join the army because you're fucking stupid in your 20s, and by your 50s you've become a wise, anti-war person who still has PTSD, you don't deserve to get your PTSD triggered because you were dumb 30 years ago.

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

On one hand, yes, on the other, if you terrorized another group of people, don't you deserve to be punished?

[–] SuddenDownpour@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We may be talking about someone who handled logistics, or cooking, or maintenance; they might have been punished by life enough in the 30 years have followed; they may be someone who didn't know what they were getting into, but once they were on the ground, tried to minimize the harm they brought upon others; they may be someone who realized what the army was doing was wrong too late, and was branded a traitor for refusing orders or revealing evil shit that was going on behind the curtains.

All in all, you're either defending that once a person does one bad thing, regardless of their context, they have become essentially tarnished forever, and no matter their growth or already suffered punishment they should continue to suffer forever; or else you're just rationalizing the fact that you want to throw fireworks no matter the harm you bring upon others. Think about this all for two minutes before you say something stupid.

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Nah it's not about the fireworks, it's about bad people and those who support them

[–] SuddenDownpour@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

So you're now posting images of people being mocked for having mental illnesses. Yeah, sure dude, you're an exemplary pillar of morality. Perhaps hold on from having these discussions until you grow up.

That was a screenshot of a message I sent to a good friend after your reply. As much as I respect him as a person, the fact he went to Afghanistan and ruined countless lives means he was a real PoS and deserves his pain
