Title, basically. Once kernel 6.5 arrives (has support for some sensors in my mobo), I was planning to reinstall using archinstall. But I’ve read that Endeavour is kinda better, as it doesn’t install a full DE, and has good default settings OOTB.

I’m planning to use systemd-boot, pipewire, KDE Plasma, Wayland. I have an AMD system (GPU, CPU) which runs great on Arch right now. I also use Discover for Flatpak, and yay to manage packages.

So my question is: is there something to be aware of? Are there any additional apps that I might not need?

PSA for anyone who is currently experiencing an issue where mpv doesn’t play audio and sees the following error:

[ao]Failed to initialize audio driver 'pipewire' Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound.

The latest pipewire update breaks mpv’s pipewire driver. Upstream mpv has a patch for this, and a fixed package is already in [extra-testing]. To fix the issue, you can manually download and install an updated mpv package from here:https://archlinux.org/packages/extra-testing/x86_64/mpv/download/

It seems like if I kill it (for example, if I'm running a full screen game in Wine and don't want the popups), anything that sends a notification restarts the daemon.

Is there a way to quiet it for a period of time, perhaps a 'do not disturb' mode?

I haven't used Linux as a desktop since back in the 2.0/2.1 kernel days, when you were praying the next kernel release would add support for the bits and pieces that made up your kit.

After 2 months of Ubuntu, I decided to dive into Arch and Endeavour has made it made it easy so far!

So I've got a weird problem. I have a lot of passwords saved in Edge, so I have it installed. The words work well in KDE (x11 or wayland), but when I load it up in Hyprland the passwords are all missing. Any ideas?

Let's see how EndeavourOS works on a Surface Pro 7

Just be aware that some add-ons may affect certain sites you go to not work atm

I just installed EndeavourOS in a new VM, and I set a different password for my user vs my admin (root) user. However, when I try to do anything that requires elevated access, it asks for my sudo password for my user account, and it accepts neither of the passwords above.

I can do su to get into root, but that means I can't use any of the shortcuts that are in the start menu by default. What did I mess up?

Ok this has been driving me nuts for the last 3 days, I'm trying to get my tablet to work on the OS and after installing multiple different drivers and even using wine to install the huion drivers directly, it is constantly putting the maximum amount of pressure if I so much as whiff the pen I'm using above it. I can't use the pen the tablet originally came with since that doesn't even register if I try using it. What the hell do I do to fix this?
