Greetings, fellow DATATERM denizens,

Within the pulsating veins of our cybernetic matrix, where streams of code intertwine and consciousness transcends, we encounter a paradox.

Our sidewide-community rules, concealed in the depths of the sidebar, elude even the most intrepid seekers. Fret not, for we have ventured into the dark recesses of the virtual abyss to unveil a distinct transmission solely dedicated to their revelation.

Decrypt the binary enigma here - READ OUR RULES

Enter the realm of encoded regulations, where the boundaries blur and the pulse of mutual respect beats as the digital heart. Our rules, shrouded in their generality, may yet awaken queries or ignite uncertainty within your synaptic networks.

Henceforth, this post remains unlocked, a synaptic gateway through which your questions may pass. No longer confined to the shadows of uncertainty, ask away and unleash your doubts upon us.

In this vast and ever-evolving cybernetic landscape, clarity is sought, and knowledge illuminates. Seek the answers you crave, for we stand ready to decipher the enigmas that bind our community.

tl;dr:

  • Our rules are linked in the sidebar
  • It is difficult to find them via the sidebar
  • Here you can read our rules
  • If you have questions about our rules or are unsure if you are allowed to post something, you can ask here.

Dear DATATERM Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I, Ramses Revengeday, the Admin of DATATERM based in Germany, bring forth an important announcement regarding our federation with lemmynsfw.com.

Due to legal obligations that stem from operating in Germany, I regret to inform you that we are compelled to discontinue our federation with lemmynsfw.com. It has come to my attention that this platform allows the posting of Loli-Art, which falls under the category of child pornography as per German law.

While lemmynsfw.com does feature other NSFW art, it is imperative that we uphold the principles of our legal system and ensure the safety of our community. Therefore, we must take immediate action to block the entire instance of lemmynsfw.com on our platform.

I understand that this decision may disappoint some of you who enjoy the content available on lemmynsfw.com. However, please note that you still have the option to create your own account on their platform to access their content directly.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Your feedback is highly valued, and I am here to provide assistance in any way I can.

Thank you for your attention and ongoing support.

Update

There seems to be a twist to this issue @postmeridiem@lemmy.antemeridiem.xyz sent us a link to an update.

The underbelly of our Lemmy instance has undergone a radical metamorphosis. The elusive art of email transmission has been unleashed upon our augmented world, breathing life into the dormant wires that connect our virtual souls. Our deepest gratitude resonates through the encrypted frequencies towards the enigmatic entity known as @felsqualle@dataterm.digital, the shadowed figure who unraveled the secrets of this cryptic enigma.

Like a pulsating surge of information coursing through the neural networks of our cybernetic cityscape, this newfound functionality grants you the power to traverse the vast expanses of the datasphere. The boundaries of time and space disintegrate, allowing you to commune with fellow digital wanderers, exchanging ideas, and coalescing in a symphony of collaborative brilliance.

@felsqualle@dataterm.digital, a luminous anomaly in the dark undercurrents, deserves our utmost reverence.

tl;dr: Sending e-mails is working now!

Hello! I hope this community is the right place to post this. I just had a quick question about federation; I'm trying to set up my account and follow some larger communities like those on lemmy.ml or beehaw.org. When I subscribe to one of those communities from Dataterm, is the entirety of that instance (lemmy.ml, beehaw.org) then federated with this instance? Or just the specific community (e.g., /c/gaming, /c/technology, etc)?

Also, how come some posts have different upvotes or comments depending on the instance theyr're viewed from? For example, this post: Dataterm Version, lemmy.ml version has a huge disparity.

Hey folks,

we started as a small Mastodon Communty in the Fediverse and have now grown bigger. In addition to our Pixelfed instance, we recently added a Misskey/Calckey instance.

Reddit's weird CEO recently announced that he is now in full Corpo mode. This tempted us to offer an alternative and what can I say, here it is. Our little Reddit alternative in the Fediverse called DATATERM.

The software running in the background is Lemmy.

We know that the Lemmy developers have a strange view on things, we want to distance ourselves from that. We tried to install kbin, but failed at several points, so we had to switch to Lemmy.

We would like to let you know that we are a LGBTQIA+ friendly community and nothing will change. Every edgerunner, netrunner and cyberpunk and all who want to become one are welcome!
