Charlie Brooker says he has considered making a Black Mirror / Philomena Cunk crossover.

The creator of both shows admitted he had the idea of an episode in which the dimwitted talking head, as played by Diane Morgan, looked into technology, which could fall under both series.

Then he added, half-jokingly: ‘I reserve the right to revisit that thought.’

The two worlds will collide next week, as a scene in the new mockumentary Cunk On Life features Streamberry, the parody of Netflix that Brooker created for the Black Mirror episode Joan Is Awful last year.

I didn't even know this spin-off existed. Apparently it was called "Dinner With The Parents" and was on Amazon's axed "Freevee" service. It actually looks more like an American remake than a spin-off, the Daily Fail have possibly used a bit of artistic licence there to make it sound like they've axed something decent.

Paddy McGuinness has raised more than £9 million following his charity bike ride for BBC Children in Need.

The Radio 2 presenter, also known for Take Me Out and Top Gear, finished his BBC Radio 2 ultra endurance cycle challenge, which saw him travel through three nations and eight counties over the week.

McGuinness, 51, had a total of more than £8 million on Friday after finishing the 300-mile journey on his dream childhood bike, a Raleigh Chopper, which was painted in the colours of the charity’s mascot, Pudsey.

He announced on his Sunday BBC Radio 2 show that this had increased to £9.12 million.

Scottish businessman Sir Tom Hunter has pledged to match the amount raised up to £3 million.

John Lloyd hosted it, which he didn’t enjoy, with journalists Simon Hoggart and Jaci Stephen, myself and Ian. The idea was that Ian would know all the news questions and I could provide the comedy. Ian would be the intelligent one and I would be the funny one. It wasn’t the most promising start, but the BBC had already committed to a series. Producer Harry Thompson and comedian Angus Deayton wrote the scripts. Harry had a keen sense of humour. He’d say: “Here’s a joke for you. Angus doesn’t think it’s funny.” When it got a laugh, Angus would have this quizzical look on his face.

I wore a T-shirt because everybody wore suits and ties. I thought we looked like a parole board, and it needed an element of anarchy. I also wanted some rudeness. The news agenda always changes. In our history, the only stories that wouldn’t go away were Brexit, Covid and Trump. There are five people, three of whom weren’t there last week. No one is irreplaceable in show business. But we’ll keep going until the sun explodes and consumes the Earth, which will be the top story the following week.
