Hello everyone maybe some of you could help me out i have the problem that my mouse feels laggy in Fallout 4 and Skyrim i did all of the usual fixes (editing the .ini files) and tried the raw input mod bust it dosen't seem to work. i have a stable 60 fps. i am using the os that shall not be named btw with all drivers up to date.

update i forgot my system specs: Ryzen 7 3800x, Rtx 2080 super, an the game is on an nvme ssd

solution: seems like vsync was causing my problems to turn it off i used the BethINI(found on nexusmods) to disable it for the game itself.

then i had to create a file in the game directory named dxvk.conf and added: dxgi.syncInterval = 0

frame rate can be capped with following launch option: DXVK_FRAME_RATE=65

If you have vsync enabled, try disabling it and see if that helps with the input lag.

i disabled iPresentInterval in the ini files but it seems like vsync won't turn off

You could check if

  • you are editing the right ini file by changing another setting and see if it takes effect in the game
  • something else like Mangohud is forcing vsync

If it you manage to turn of vsync and the mouse lag is gone you probably want to limit your frame rate to something close to your monitor refresh rate to minimize screen tearing. You could use Mangohud or libstrangle for that.

i'm now quite shure the ini tweaks are correct because i did it with the BethINI tool and i tried without mangohud (i can see frametime throu the shadowboost menu) still at 60 fps

Which polling rate on your mouse are you using? I‘ve read something about a couple of months ago that 1000 hz polling rate on proton could cause mouse input lag, I don‘t know if its still present, but give it a try lowering the rate

i set my polling rate down to 500 mouse lag still persisting :(

What proton version are you using? I'd try with Proton-GE

[–] nogrub@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

oh sorry gorgot to mention i have tried the newest version of proton GE, proton experimental, proton 8 and 7. also nince i forgot my system specs are: Ryzen 7 3800x, Rtx 2080 super, an the game is on an nvme ssd
