I’m about 5 hours in. I’ve 100%’d the opening stage and I just completed my first night mission. I’m loving it so far but have forced myself to take a break. It’s been 10 years since Pikmin 3. I really need to savor this.

I'm enjoying it now, but the tutorial and day 1 were a struggle. The hand-holding was unbearable to me. You get dialogue and tutorial every 5 seconds of gameplay 😭 It was definitely not fun, and I kept wishing there was a "leave me alone" mode. I don't remember if Pikmin 3 had this much hand-holding. But I pushed through it and now it's fun. I haven't played that many hours yet, but it seems quite fun so far. I'll play more during the weekend and hopefully forget about how annoyed I felt during the first hour or so of playing it.

I’m glad I went through that stuff in the demo, where I fully expected it. Jumping right into the main game a few days in was another huge bonus for playing the demo.

Really enjoying it so far - about an hour of tutorial, then straight into it. Cleared the first area, and now I have theories about the leafling (not gonna elaborate because I dunno how to spoiler tag on Lemmy) and a deep love of everything Oatchi represents

Fiancé has been paying it - seems really nice looking, but the beginning seems very frustrating with how much the game stops you to tutorialize. The lack of being able to swing the pikmin to attack/pick up things is also unfortunate.

It's my first Pikmin that I really gave a proper go.

So far I don't understand how you can be a diehard Pikmin fan.
To me, all it has got is great animations and graphics, but the gameplay is mind numbingly easy and lacks variety, even after 2 hours.

I believe it is a great kids game with it's style and easy to pick up gameplay, but it doesn't hold my attention for long.

Definitely will be going back to Zelda or Persona 5 where it felt effortless to put 150 hours into between the both of them so far.

Yeah, this one has definitely been made easier for casual audiences. The previous games have a higher difficulty and if you enjoy the general gameplay loop I highly recommend checking them out. (2 especially)

I'm loving it, though it's not as fun as Pikmin 3 Deluxe was. My husband and I played co-op and we dandori'd the fuck out of that game, it was awesome. For 4 we're taking turns doing a day/night each, haven't tried the "co-op" yet because it sounds incredibly lame.

Oatchie makes the game so much easier. For better and worse, but I think more better than worse, I basically just treat him as a noble steed to take advantage of not having to worry about stragglers.
