I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don't look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I'd go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I got my uBlock Origin ready to kill all the ads. That shitty website will not get a cent out of me.

What about you? Do you still use reddit?

Reddit is my place to check on news about the ongoing war. For some reason it wasn't banned in r*ssia and is availiable without vpns. Lots of exiles from other places joined subreddits there.

I don't feel like this blogosphere would move into fediverse. Occasionally, reddit became the right place for this.

Nope, and I even stop searching for episode discussions on TV shows because most of it is on reddit.

Yes, but I've realised that I go in less and less.

Only when I search for something and there is a result from reddit, I read that and only that one. Otherwise, no.

[–] Aatube@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

i just check it twice a week

[–] BromSwolligans@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Sometimes I open up the home page to see what's up, then I see what's up is less interesting than it used to be and less interesting than what's happening here. And I close it pretty quickly. I'm still using it as part of my Google searches when I need quick human answers. It's gonna continue to be a historical resource in that regard. No getting around that. But my account only exists so that I can access those resources without too much fuss. It's not something I use to post or contribute. I used the Sign In With Apple feature to just generate a throwaway anonymous account after I deleted my 11 year old account.

I slipped maybe twice by accident via google search results but that’s it. Until I need to get opinions to buy something it will be okay I guess.

i still scroll a little bit. a few subs with content i cant really get anywhere else. tbh the content on lemmy is very bare so i’ll scroll twitter more…

I keep the app on my phone. I use it as a porn site at this point.

Nope. I quit cold turkey on June 30 and haven't been back. Well, not on purpose, at least. Sometimes a Google result sends me to Reddit, but when it loads I just close it and move to the next result. Lemmy works fine for everything I used Reddit for.

[–] notun@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Of course I do. It's reddit.

There's a few things that I follow that do have communities here, but little to no engagement in those communities. I'll occasionally get on to look at those subreddits for updates, but I don't have an account anymore so I don't log in and I don't engage with the communities. I also use RES so they don't get any of my advertising revenue. Someone had linked a read only Reddit client before but I can't remember what it was, If anyone does remember let me know so I can switch to that.

Why is this pinned? And which apps let you block instances wholesale?

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

No. I only really use my phone for everything. It's impossible to see the old website on mobile and the regular website is hot garbage, and somehow their app is even worse. There is no way for me to access Reddit and have a pleasant experience anymore.

Reddit basically forced me to go to Lemmy. I was mad at first, but now 3 weeks into it (1 week casual before the Baconreader died and then 2 weeks of redditesque addiction) I really don't mind. There are some subs I really miss, but hopefully someone makes communities for them soon. (Malicious compliance and HobbyDrama are what immediately pop into my head)

reddit is a source of information. (fact).
but i logged out and will not be going back.

[–] Kritoke@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

Not completely, there are still some niche, non-technical communities that are probably never going to switch. I hope at some point they do, but still go once in a while to check. I don’t go daily like I used to, mostly do lemmy daily since the apps are getting so good now.

[–] amoroso@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I left Reddit in early 2022 and never looked back.

Only via libreddit.hu

[–] donut4ever@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

About once or twice a week max. And only because infinity for reddit still works. Nothing much there really. Lemmy actually has been more fun. Just the apps are still a hit or miss

[–] mdmachine@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

I was a joey user. But already had my lemme already set up for this day. I might use reddit just to track the events of the Ukraine war and some stable diffusion stuff. But most of that discord and telegram can be used instead.

Maybe occasionally subredditdrama to see the meltdowns happening. For now I'm trying to see which lemmy app I like best. Right now connect seems to be the one I am using most.

[–] lalay721@feddit.it 1 points 1 year ago

There are just two subs I check about once every two days, but I'm yet to log in again after I disconnected my account last month. I used to only visit it through Libreddit as the UX is better anyway but now that one's gone too...

[–] B3_CHAD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Yes as there are certain subs that aren't on lemmy. But I have been visiting it a lot less since lemmy.

Went back for like a day after my main amount on v.lemmy went down with the server.

After a day I couldn’t stomach it anymore. Reddit All is just a bunch of warzone footage or clickbait news.

I created a new main on a new Lemmy server and am loving being here.
