I use an iPhone because of Apple ID. I log in and all of my stuff is there. I don’t use macs I’d Apple Watch or AirPods. I use out side brands for that stuff but all of my data is on iPhone and transferring to an android doesn’t work too well. As an operating system android is fine. For some people it’s better. But I’ve used both and my Apple ID is what brought me back to iPhone
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
Because android sucks in my opinion.
I like it and it works for me. Till that changes, I don’t see myself switching. A lot of android devices are cutting edge and cool though. Maybe I’ll get one as a spare phone in the future, but for now, I just use an iPhone and Apple ecosystem
(Former Android User)
I switched to iPhone for various reasons.
Security (e2e, passkey, private relay) It’s feels like quality. The App optimization is S tier. The ecosystem.
To try something different, used nothing but Android Phones since the Moto Droid. I will be returning back to using Android after this iPhone run.
Because the iPad was the best tablet for the price when I was in the market for my kids and iPhone makes it far easier to manage the screen time parental controls.
no virus, pretty design, friendly interface, reliable
Wanted an iPod in high school , never got one but when the iPhone came out , I was thinking “ that’s a phone and iPod in one that’s saving me money “ bought a iPhone 4 in 2010 , stuck to it ever since
FaceTime, have a new grand kid. Main reason I switched. Otherwise there are things I like but also things I miss.
My preloved iPhone 7 plus which was first released 7 years ago is still functioning like it was new. Smooth, the camera is superb, video stabilization is astounding and still opens apps blazingly fast.
Had a lot of bad experiences with old android devices. I’ve never been against android just prefer the clean design of iPhone. Even though I’m a hardcore windows user
It’s reliable. Never had any major problems with it. Unlike Samsung, my last Samsung phone which was Note 20 Ultra had green & pink lines in less than a year. Maybe 6 months of use
It’s the most no-BS phone out there.
Honestly, I like it cause it just works. Every android I had before my first iphone (the iphone x) was just unreliable
From college to my line of work I’ve only ever used Apple products and it was just seamless for me to choose the iPhone.
iMessage. That’s about it 🤷♂️
The software is very satisfying and simple to use
Really because all my friends and family have it. Imessage , face time and airdrop make communication easy. Plus i have an iPad ,AirPods and a mac and i dont want to buy all new stuff. I personally think it’s stupid but there is a certain “in the club” type feeling iPhone users get and somebody value that feeling. It’s also sorta a status symbol in certain areas.
My gf forced me and now I cannot go out
For me:
- Ease of Use
- Zero to Minimal Ads
- Form Factor
Longevity. It’s guaranteed that their phones will be supported long after most have already replaced it. I can’t count how many non iOS phones just stopped being supported before the 2 year mark.
Only one reason - Apple Watch
Also, being a reliable OS helps, although I enjoy using the much more flexible Android
Aesthetics and pricing.
Flagship android phones are usually more expensive than the iphones here in Japan since most of them don't get the discount benefits that iphone gets. I would have no problem switching over to the new Galaxy or Pixel if it looks pretty to me.
Sync with my macbook is a plus, but it's not necessary.
Why chose Milwaukee over dewalt or ryobi or harbor freight?
Worldwide AppleCare+ Coverage and I don't live in the US. I don't like cases either and no other brand in the world offers the same protection and advantages that AppleCare+ does.
All other brands either don't have a similar program or it is regionalized.
It all works together.
I honestly don’t know. I use iPhone for that, and that only. But everything else is Samsung, Microsoft/windows, Android, Google, etc.
Apple Ecosystem and Choosing to limit the quantity of my personal information I share with Google. I like Android, but care little for the idea of giving one company my entire digital life. I am NOT claiming Apple is perfect but I find myself less frustrated using their products.
I got used to it ever since I was a kid. My iPhones are all hand me downs from my parents (iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus). My parents bought me an iPhone 11 and now, I bought the 15 Pro Max.
I’m not the type of person that prioritizes customizability and I just prefer a simpler way of using the phone. And I won’t lie, I prefer Apple also because of its prestige. Although I am not a tech snob as I plan on owning a flagship android should I make more money to have the best of both worlds.
But for now, I love my new iPhone.
I use an iPhone because everything works pretty well, when I get a new phone everything transfers seamlessly, and I’ve never had a reason not to use an iPhone.
Also, iMessage is huge in my family. Group chats and FaceTime are essential for staying connected with them. My dad has an android and is consistently using my moms iPhone to stay in the loop with photos, videos, etc sent from the rest of the family.
I just really hate Android and Google. I use iPhone only because it is better than Android but I would really love a 3rd option.
company standard and my girlfriend is super ignorant with computers and it‘s the easiest thing for my parents who are both way older than 80. I actually like android more.
Got bored of using Android for so many years. I still switch between iPhone and Samsung and currently I'm using the S23 Ultra, but I might switch back to iPhone because it has USB-C now.
I bought into Steve Jobs’ vision. I’ve had every IPhone. I have a MacBook Pro, 2 IPads and an Apple Watch. 🤷🏿♂️
It...looks cute.
In the past I’ve tended to switch back and forth between iOS and Android. Was on the iPhone 3G, iPhone 4S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Pixel 2, while having a couple iPads and Macs. I also would periodically try Android phones for a couple months at a time (was able to borrow them from work), so I’ve used literally dozens, if not a hundred different Android phones.
For a long time there were enormous advantages to Android. Bigger screens, widgets, background tasks for third party apps, file system access, better sharing, better notifications, better voice assistant… at the cost of a usually jankier UI, generally worse battery life, and poorer implementations of apps in the store.
Apple significantly closed the gap in recent years, and the iPhone is mostly caught up, or at least close enough for former android advantages to be almost non-issues for general usage.
I went to an iPhone 12 Pro when it came out since it felt like time to try the iPhone again, and hated the phone. Battery life was awful, 60hz sucked (since I was used to more), the phone would heat up during normal use…
Was going to go back to Android, but family members were having huge issues with recent Android devices, and the iPhone 14 Pro seemed like it might resolve most of those issues, and it did. Picked up a 14 Pro Max, and it’s the second phone I’ve ever owned that I really love (the other being the Pixel 2).
Great screen, great battery life, (mostly) stable (apart from “dynamic island” and keyboard bugs), great camera… The only real stuff I’m really missing from Android now are app side loading, a fully-fledged file system, USB-C with fast file transfer speeds (yes, I know, iPhone 15 Pro…), the better keyboards you get on Android, the better assistant… but it’s a worthy trade off for now for a more cohesive ecosystem, improved apps, etc.
Hopefully it won’t break and I can go without upgrading for at least 3 years.
- Invested in the ecosystem (Macbook, iPad, watch, airpods)
- Seamless integration between devices is hella convenient (copy pasting from phone to mac, search history, etc)
- Airdrop is hella convenient when getting photos from fell iPhone users on trips
- Photos look better on the iPhone. You can argue that other companies have better photos in certain lighting conditions, sure… but iPhone just delivers consistently
- Might be the stupidest answer but I like the variety of cases they release for iPhone… and that’s a personal preference for me.
My company gave me one at a massive discount as per company policy. I already had a company provided Macbook. So went for it. Now have purchase Airpods Pro too.
I just came over after 10+ years of android. All the problems Ive had with iphone have been fixed, and I find the reliability of android phones to be poor
my sister switched, then my mom, then me. I wanted to try it since I've used nothing but Samsung. I've had my iphone 12 since 2021. I like it a lot, but I still have my note 10 phone and I am never getting rid of it, there's just too much freedom on there.
I wanted to try something new, and wound up loving it.
I know android users like to customize their phones and make it their own. For me, though, it is the simplistic nature of iOS. I do wish Apple would let users customize their software to a certain extent more than they allow and I really, really wish Apple would add in screen fingerprint scanning to their phones. Those are literally the only two things I wish Apple would invest more time and energy into. Other than those, it is the consistent updates, the simple software, the mostly reliability among my reasons for sticking with iOS.
Got sick of my android phones not updating and glitching all the time.
After my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic I got my first real smartphone, which was an iPhone 4S. I wasn’t really fan of Apple, even used to shit on iPhones, just because they were expensive and I never owned one. After getting it, I was amazed, especially by the screen. My first ever proper touch screen. After some time I decided to give Android a chance and bought Samsung Galaxy S4. Had the worst smartphone experience of my life, which ended on Samsung’s battery becoming an explosive pillow. Android back then was also a terrible experience. To Samsung’s credit, they replaced almost whole phone on warranty. They left only the back of it from old one, just because it was scratched from swollen battery. Sold it right after getting it back from warranty. Bought iPhone 5S to have proper smartphone back, then shortly after got my 6S that served me well for 3,5 years.
Not gonna lie, that whole Android experience left such bitter taste that I never looked at Android phones again. I got a lot more into tech world since then and now, if I wasn’t invested in Apple ecosystem, I’d consider getting Pixel. Tbh I’m considering getting one anyway just to see how it is nowadays.
I use iPhone because , imo, the UI feels way more polished than Android. Whenever and wherever I pickup an Android phone, no matter which one, the whole UI just feels cartoonish and amateurish. I just can’t stand it.
All that customization in the UI that Android fans love to talk about just makes it even more inconsistent and amateurish.
This is all just my view.
At first it was because it was the carrier wars. Cingular/att didn’t have Motorola smart phones. Took a gamble with the iPhone 4. Liked the iOS. It works how I think it should work (even though sometimes iTunes is a pain in my ass). Once got a tablet with android iOS and it was clunky and hard to use. Why wouldn’t I want the icon for the app I just downloaded on the main screen? Why do I have to navigate for several minutes to find where to stop the app. Yes I want to delete the icon on the screen after I delete the app, why would I want to keep that? Little things. But I like PC’s better than Mac’s. Why? Because Mac’s are overprice and under powered. Also I hate the software interface is. Why should I have to “throw away” the disk icon in order to eject the diskette? That seems stupid. Just have an eject button.
Cheaper, better software, better camera, more fun to repair
Nothing will keep you in the ecosystem quite like having kids. 😂
