Better widgets and options surrounding them. They introduced widgets and it hasn’t gotten much attention from Apple or app developers since.
Apple
A place for Apple news, rumors, and discussions.
This! It was a huge moment and then it never evolved or improved over time. Would love more control of widgets.
More control over the “styling” or theming in general would be incredible but I’d settle for improving/fleshing out widgets
Lets start with moving icons anywhere I would like on the screen.
There’s a lot of room for improvement but you don’t expect Apple to release it in just one iteration of iOS? I mean, they really could…but…
Repairability without software locks and stupid crap like that. There’s no logical reason to disable FaceID when you replace the screen which has literally no parts of FaceID connected to it. Same goes for battery, truetone, cameras and so on ……
Everyone here sounds like they have fallen for the Apple eco system and haven't bothered to look at what Android has to offer from other all the phones available. Everything here is doable on other phones
They are probably racing to introduce GenAI powered Siri, that would be a game changer.
- get rid of the notch. Proper under display camera system
- bring fingerprint back for 2-factor biometrics. Also under display
- faster charging both wired and wireless
- longer battery life
- fast data transfer across the board, not just the pro phones
- bring 3D Touch back
The screen will get brighter with a higher resolution and refresh rate when a better replacement to lithium-ion batteries will came out, For example, if we had better batteries, then it should be possible for a 360hz 4K 4000nits screen, and also under-screen camera, better glass(sapphire), better cpu…
Since the Home Screen is getting shortcuts and widgets now I’d like to also be able to individualize a lot more about it. Starting with changing or hiding the name/text of apps, being able to put them anywhere (empty spots in the middle) but also things like creating widgets in a similar way to creating shortcuts (rather than pressing and getting a pop up just show the info live).
Then I’d also like more control about what’s being shown in context Menues. There is a lot of clutter for example when sharing something. I dislike having options I’m not using at all.
But it’s already going into a great direction. I used to love the simplicity of not being able to individualize much but lately have gotten into it quite a bit. It helps me stay organized.
Better WIFI hotspotting because right now you can’t leave the settings screen until a non iOS device has connected.
Oof there is so much to improve. Desktop mode, background downloads, icon placement, pen support, revamp of notifications, work profiles
Such a powerful processor wasted
Personally hardware wise it’s pretty good. I would just say faster charging. Reverse wireless charging that works with watch or AirPods etc.
But iOS is where things can really improve. It’s honestly not that great. More form over function
improve cooling and faster charging time
Dreaming here, I’d really like to see an iPhone fold.. iPhone on top, iPad mini on the inside
A lot, to name one - better thermal solution and SOC efficiency as right now the phone can get hold quite easily if you play anything heavy + the screen dims on top of the not that comfortable to hold phone (and the heat is also not good for the internal components, including the battery).
Uh, a more robust file management system, separate volume controls for various uses (media, calls, alarm, etc), more cohesive Notifications, and faster Charging speeds. I’m sure there’s more but that’s just off the top of my head.
I want Apple Pencil support. Then I'll be happy.
Base iPhones at 6’3 display
It’s a hard question to answer because you just don’t know where technology might go next. A couple decades ago, you might have asked how much better flip phones can get, and here we are today…
Personally, one of my dreams is a phone that I can stretch to become bigger if I need the screen size, and then I can just squish/fold/whatever it back down to fit in my pocket. Maybe through some magic, we’ll get full frame camera sensors in phones? Long-distance wireless charging? And of course there’s silicon improvements—it would be pretty cool to have the equivalent of a i9 14900k and a 4090 in your pocket.
Something like routines from Samsung
A universal back gesture doesn’t make any sense. Windows Phone had a dedicated back button. Which was a mistake. There are many situations where there isn’t a logical “back”. It should only be available when it makes sense.
Two apps side by side. A back button. A close all apps button or option.
I just switched from a Samsung s9+ to the iPhone 15 pro max. It’s only been a week. Love the phone but those 3 features are really missed right now
Only your imagination could limit how good it could get. There are always advances in technology. Eventually come become a personal transporter device. 🖖🏼
Back swipe gesture from right side
- Better UI and unified UX for going back in different apps
- faster charging and wireless charging
- reverse wireless charging
- better UW and telephoto camera
- split screen multitasking
- better cooling to remove screen dimming and Performance drops
- better volume controls, option to change notification sound
- more control of default apps for opening links
- more versatile home screen, app drawer
- better voice assistant
