I guess apple forgot that the iPhone SE doesn’t have Face ID… or maybe it’s a sign of a future iPhone SE with Face ID?!

Context: it’s an iPhone SE (2022, 3rd gen). Initiating name drop while the phone is locked results in the prompt asking for authentication, which is Face ID on basically all iPhones but the SE, yet it seems Apple forgot about that and the message for authentication still asks for Face ID, which the iPhone SE models don’t have.

Just put your thumb on the button and try to unlock that way.

Just put your nose on the button and try to unlock that way.

I had a friend set up his nose as a key on his fingerprint sensor years ago. I'm not sure how secure it is, but it does at least work to unlock the phone.

I’m aware, just figured it was funny it was asking for Face ID 🤣

You have unlocked the secret Face ID mode on iPhone SE

I have never yet gotten this function to work. Maybe it’s not available in my country or some weird thing idk

From someone that works in software. Not a release stopper bug. SE users probably account for single digit percentage of iOS users. Maybe even 1%

Probably a single digit but not 1% at all considering it's the cheapest iPhone they have in their line up
