I thought about upgrading to Ultra 2 but finding it hard to justify. I still get a day use out of the battery.

Series 3, feel like I’ve had it for 4 or 5 years now.

Still rocking with the 1st ge SE. I've thought about upgrading to series 9 for better battery but don't want to spend more money just for an upgraded battery. My SE can do everything the series 9 can so far I've seen just less better sensors and not as good battery.

Yeah. Still using the SE1 here and it’s just fine. Showing its age obviously, but it’s hard to justify upgrading when it still does everything I need just fine. Gonna rock it till it’s obsolete unless I find a spectacular deal on the Ultra.

Me. Does what I need & I’m not paying >$700 for an Ultra.

[–] djln491@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yup picked it up at Walmart in July for $150. Tough to go wrong.

The SE is essentially the AW4 body with upgraded SIP and sensors for each iteration forward: SE1 has the S5 SIP and the SE2 has the S8 SIP. If budget is the primary consideration however, I’d say the AW6 is the “sweet spot” in terms of feature set and price for the refurb market in places like backmarket.com.

The “clutch” feature that is missing on the SE models is the Always On Display, since being able to glance at the time from your wrist without needing to raise to wake is a primary function for a wristwatch IMHO and something that annoyed me when it was missing from my older AW2.

I don’t think it’s a “cost saving” measure on Apple’s part, since an LTPO screen is included, but rather a withheld feature to make consumers look to the next model up for the upgrade path.

If it is a hardware restriction however, IMO it’s something they should include in the SE3. The AOD can be manually turned off if the feature annoys you or you can go into low power mode if you are trying to optimize battery so there’s no reason to not include that feature.

Who's still rocking Gen 0?

[–] Its_You_Know_Wh0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Series three’s battery is still amazing

I just bought an ultra watch 2 and my SE is my sleep watch now. It was the last thing through the day anymore for me.

First gen SE with 87% battery health

[–] Shallowplays@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have the se2

Series 5 over here 😂

[–] BluePenguin2002@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

None of the SE models are actually that old yet since the first generation only released 3 years ago, they’re all great devices! Never owned one as I had a Series 4 from two years before the SE and it lasted me 5 years before replacing it due to battery but it’s quite a similar watch.

My wife's SE died this summer

She bailed in favor of a Garmin

[–] Vegetable-Bug251@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

SE here as well. I have zero desire to get a replacement for it right now.

[–] absent-chaos@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I got mine with my phone when I just barely switched from android

[–] Yugikisp@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Working with the first ultra now

[–] thisonecassie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I got my SE back in January of 2021 and have been using it daily ever since! Love it to bits, and I love it even more with snoopy!! (Though what I really want is a muppets watchface)

[–] UrLilBrudder@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I bought an SE 1 refurbished at the beginning of last year for $200. No reason to get anything more, really. If I were getting one for the first time I would go with a 9, though. The better Siri and keyboard would be nice.

[–] aaidenmel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Still got my 1st gen SE, I’m looking to get another one pretty soon though, but I’ve been saying that for a while.

SE2 44mm. Upgraded from a series 2 a couple of months ago. Love it

[–] CC_Baxter_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Best of all for sure

[–] Soft_Snow_1769@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have the SE for 2 years now with 96% battery.

[–] Cole_Archer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just recently got the SE2 on a good deal, very happy. I had a Garmin Vivo but the SE having SoS and crash detection is what drove me to replace Garmin. The Garmin had a long life though but that was because it wasn’t a fancy screen and was more geared toward fitness.

[–] Swankyyyy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I did until just last month. Had a crack and got a S9. Honestly, the whole “double tap” feature is such a gimmick. Significantly better battery life was the only difference i’ve noticed so far.

[–] geek_rick@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I am still rocking the 3

[–] Danzavier@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My fiancé has the first generation. She’s not into tech and doesn’t know any better. I just upgraded from series 6 to 9.
