I'll be travelling through Heathrow later this summer and have an 8 hr layover. How long would it take to get to the suburbs in north or south London like Enfield Town or Sutton?

Sutton isn't too hard to get to and from Heathrow with the X26 Bus, typically about an 1 hr 15 min journey.

now? with traffic, strikes, etc.? or typically that was the time?

Worst case I'd say about just over 1 hr 40min but typically you should expect between 1 hr 10 min and 1 hr 30 min.

Why those places? Seems like you only want to go there if you had friends or family there. If not then it'd be much easier and quicker to get into central London or somewhere on the Piccadilly or Elizabeth lines

Yeap, I'd say Elizabeth line into central too. Piccadilly is fine, but doesn't have A/C and is slower, I think.

Does the 8 hours exclude check-in time? If not, that's not much time to see central! (Even 8 hours is a bit of a whirlwind)

time of day, etc. will impact that a lot. so can expect 45 mins to 2.5 hours essentially.

Damn, yeah I was thinking middle of the day on a weekend and was told roughly 2 hrs so that sounds about right. Thanks.
