Haha, vger, like in Star Trek. Love it.

[–] lorax@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

I am not an artist but a nod to either vger in Star Trek or to the Voyager series would be awesome. Like a lemming with a borg eye piece or something.

Congrats!

I’m switching back and forth between wefwef and Memmy and I wish you the best!

Still hoping to customize swipe actions and a read indicator. The latter is already nicely implemented in Memmy.

I’m very excited about all the development of these apps. Thank you for all your hard work!

[–] Trifictional@lemmy.ca 28 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I’m gonna miss wefwef honestly, the name really grew on me.

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

It's like woofwoof but for those with a weird lisp.

[–] ugh@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I loved the name so much. It stood out from the other apps.

[–] Jeff@lemm.ee 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Really do think you’re closest to Apollo. Think only haptics is missing and that’s crazy given how short of a time you’ve been at it. Great work!!

I love the new app name, thanks for helping me not need to type WefWef except for this one last time. You absolutely rock!

You guys also fixed the long post bugs today. Totally impressed.

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I’m glad you appreciate that bug fix! It took all day to fix.

Web apps controlling on-screen keyboards cross platform is really difficult, unfortunately!

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

This is a much better name. I love the reference to Apollo.

Although, saying wefwef was fun.

[–] Spectator@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Congrats. I love how every time I log on, there's a new update to wefwe-Voyager.

[–] Tessa@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

It’ll always be wefwef in our hearts.

What made you switch the name? I always felt wefwef pretty cool and less risky to run into copyright/trademark problems than with your new name.

However: Fantastic app, I will stay!

[–] cpp@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

I agree, the old name was more fun.

[–] Hamartiogonic@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 year ago

Went to wefwef.app, started using it on iOS and added it to my homescreen. Turns out, the name was voyager instead of wefwef. You can imagine I was very confused about it before doing some digging.

[–] UhBell@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is there a new update or is it a new url?

Thank you so much for allowing blocking of communities and fading post that I’ve already read. It’s incredible how quickly you’ve given us updates and made Lemmy my go to over the last couple weeks. But the last couple updates have been amazing!

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Of course! I'm glad you're enjoying it! πŸ’™

[–] Cyanogenmon@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

You guys are kicking some serious ass with the updates and features.

I moved back to android off ios and the only real app I missed was apollo, so this is really scratching that itch!

I am still looking forward to sync for lemmy, but honestly with the rate that this is being worked on with this passion, I may just have to stick with weyager

[–] ASK_ME_ABOUT_LOOM@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do I need to change anything? I still have a PWA icon on my home screen called wefwef. Will that still get updates? Will it eventually change to voyager?

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

You can keep it and you will still get updates, but PWAs will keep the same old icon and name until/if you remove and re-add to homescreen

[–] Cullen@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It'll be a weird change, but it's a great name!

[–] zos_kia@lemmy.fmhy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's kind of generic though isn't it? I liked wefwef it was pretty fun

[–] ugh@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Honestly, the name was a big reason I downloaded it, along with how active the developers have been. I keep forgetting the names of the other apps. Wefwef stood out, along with the cute mouse.

It seems like the users are happy with the name change, and I'm excited for the devs to be working on their finished concept.

[–] GrossGhost@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

And I still can't log into my lemmy.world account through this. Still not a big deal since I'm waiting for sync, but I don't get it. The same credentials work everywhere else.

By the way is the name referring to a certain star trek movie?

[–] null_@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don’t have any issue on iOS/Safari for lemmy.world, what’s your OS and browser?

The name is a reference to the NASA missons (Apollo > Voyager), which is also referenced in Star Trek so it’s related in a sense.

Wefwef recently bugged out on me where I couldn't log into any instance or view any posts. Is this the same issue you're having or no? I had to delete the PWA, then navigate to my browser and delete all of the saved site settings for wefwef (or Voyager now). Then I was finally able to load the site again and log in.

What I occasionally have issues with in Voyager/wefwef is that I randomly cannot post comments because it asks me to select a language. My language is set to English in my profile, and no amount of fiddling with the setting seems to make the app function. Other times it's totally fine so I don't get it.

Hmmm... Voyager.... Great name !

[–] weariedfae@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Uh, this is awkward. I still have Voyager the crypto app that went bankrupt installed.

I love this web app but it keeps freezing after doing the side swipe gesture to go back to the main feed. Does it only happen to me?

[–] Deez@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Don’t tap for one second and it will unfreeze.

[–] Tatters@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

No, this is a common problem, something to do with web browsers.

Is it possible to re add deeplinking support. Both wefwef and voyager seem to have lost the feature (Android).

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmm. I don't think Voyager ever had deep link support. But this is something we could add.

[–] Deemo@lemmy.fmhy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sorry by deep link I meant open in function. Version 0.16.0 fixed it

Is anything changing for the docker version of the app?

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Maybe the package name? Not sure how GitHub handles that

[–] relevant_ace@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Thanks for the blocking feature. Needed that so badly.

Shame about the name cos I thought it made it unique but here's to Vger!
