anybody want to share about their body mods? i'm speaking broadly, including any piercings or tattoos. current, planned, or retired, i'd love to hear about them!

for me, i just have a couple facial piercings and one pair of lobe piercings. i'm starting to stretch my lobes and it's very exciting! one of my ears needed a couple extra weeks to go up to a measly 14g, so i'm ready to be really, really patient.

I have first lobes on both ears and since last month a helix/flat on my right! I am quite sensitive to nickel so for most of my life, I tried having earrings but always reacted badly. I didn't get my lobes properly done at a piercer until 2021 and them using titanium helped. My right lobe is still finicky but we're working on it.

Hope Im doing this right (reddit refugee, hello everybody). Best of luck with your healing!
Titanium took a while to arrive where I live so I got to see all of the friends that thought they couldn't get piercings suddenly being able to rock new piercings. Wish you all the best!

i love that helix/flat jewelry!

Thanks! I'm actually going to swap it out for a Buddha Jewelry Mini Valentina when I downsize. That piece wasn't in stock when I got the piercing so I've been wearing this Industrial Strength Marquise Fan in the meantime. Now the question is what I'll do with the piece... Maybe a second lobe? Or get another one and wear them in my first lobes. Decisions, decisions!

I have two tattoos (one on my chest, one on the back of my neck and behind my ear) and a hybrid RFID/NFC chip implanted in my hand.

I've had plans for some tattoos forever but I've been so busy that I haven't been able to get em

do you have a specific style in mind?

I had my lip and septum peirced, but I haven't worn any jewlrey in them for years. My septum is still open, but has gone from a 6 or 8 ga (i forget which) to about a 12 ga, with it being fairly easy to step back up to a 10ga. My lip is completely healed, and you can't tell unless i close my mouth and pull a vacuum, in which case you can see the dimples.

I also have an RFID implanted in my hand, which i used to use to unlock my phone, but my current phones NFC antenna is a lot weaker and can't read the tag through my skin, so it mostly goes unused unless i want to freak people out with a goofy party trick

Currently on the last stages of healing my daith piercing (if anyone is stuggling with that one, I have some advice I learned the hard way haha).
Rocking the pink bangs I gave myself during quarantine and couldn't get myself to let go of.
Excited for future piercing and tattoo projects

I'm generally a vanilla person, so i haven't done anything yet.

I do Roller Derby (play and officiate), so at this point, I know more people with tattoos than without. I've wanted something for a while now, but generally haven't because of the fear of commitment.

I've found an idea I really like, have started talking to people for recommendations for an artist.

In derby, bruises are extremely common because it's a full contact sport. You can be kicked or grabbed or hit the floor, or fall on someone's wheels, and these bruises can be beautiful, changing all sorts of colors and shades and patterns. There's a gallary of example "Derby Kisses" where a photographer recorded some stunning examples: https://riikkahyvonen.com/roller-derby-kisses

I want to get a tattoo of a wheel bruise with it blending into a galaxy, since space has been another long-term obsession, would get it outside my right thigh where I've had bruises just like the ones above. I just really like this concept, and I'm hoping I can find someone to realize it for me

ooh thanks for the link! there's a lot more variation than i expected and they really are beautiful

I might have an artist now (recommendation from someone in my derby league). If I go through with it, I'll make sure to follow up with pictures :-p
