I was lucky to lock in a fixed rate with nectr for 12 months. Otherwise I'd be sitting in the dark.

Gather round the ~~candle~~* smouldering bark, kids - I'm going to tell you a story.

*candles are expensive

When I was a kid, all the light bulbs were either 60w or 100w, every appliance was inefficient, and no one gave a shit if you left the lights on all day because power wasn’t expensive. Of course those were the ‘bad’ old days when the ‘socialist’ government power companies generated power at cost and it everyone benefited. Thank god the Coalition improved the system by putting in a bunch of middlemen companies to take massive profits instead, phew.

Here come more calls for Tas to decouple from the energy market. Tas Networks pegging our prices to a % of Vic is some bullshit. I understand why they did it, but it's some bullshit.

The gall these bastards have charging off peak 23c kwh and then they only pay 7c kwh for a solar feed in tarrif.

A decade of hands off coalition government has brought about this bullshit.

The time to fix this was years ago. Government inaction has caused this.

mine is already topping $400 a month, from tomorrow it goes up again.

[–] Ilandar@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Damn, I pay less than $400 a quarter.

Here's what I'm getting as an increase.

Now that we're in July, hopefully the government's Energy Made Easy site will have current amounts so we can shop around.

I believe they've all updated now. The beta version of the site is very good, by the way. I recommend trying it out.
