summons angry goose:

"Which virtues, motherfucker?!"

Why would a billionaire resort to name calling random people ?

Ooooh ... his wealth and power is threatened.

[–] Suavevillain@lemmy.world 4 points 46 minutes ago

I finally deleted mines. I don't want to be on platforms using AI bots to engage users and the privacy issues. I just finally told any family where else to follow me and dipped.

I’m counting on these changes actually making our platforms better

HAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHHA - wheeeeeeeeeeze - HOOOOOHAHAHAHAHAHA-HA-HAAAAA!!!

The Meta boss was defiant in downplaying the possibility of a mass exodus of users.

I mean, he's probably not worrying too much about the US/EU markets, since in terms of MAU, Southeast Asia probably represents over 70% of that. Does anyone know what has been the general reaction to his bullshit over there?

Mary-Frances Makichen, a Threads user who has 253 followers, lamented that Meta and Zuckerberg “are counting on the fact that it’s too hard for people to leave Threads and IG.”

Pretty much. It's probably actually impossible to fully delete the accounts, fuckyzucky lives off users' data.

US & Canada is the biggest region for revenue though. This is public info if you look at the slides from the most recent earnings call: https://investor.atmeta.com/investor-events/event-details/2024/Q3-2024-Earnings-Call/default.aspx

"Being virtuous is virtue signaling."

Ok. How about go fuck yourself Mark. Am I vice signaling enough for you now?

[–] Churlish_Witness@lemmy.world 1 points 39 minutes ago

This is the move.

[–] kipo@lemm.ee 11 points 2 hours ago

I forgot that not being part of a platform that just changed its rules to openly allow and advocate for hate speech toward trans people is virtue signaling.

Sorry that I want trans people to live without harassment and have human rights, I guess. What a virtue signaling asshole I am.

[–] ChaoticEntropy 8 points 2 hours ago

Anyone who doesn't want be evil is doing so performatively. Obviously.

[–] mortemtyrannis@lemmy.ml 20 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Mark Zuckerberg is a whiny piss baby.

Truth, why couldn't he have stayed the same nerdy dude from his collage years

[–] sunbeam60@lemmy.one 13 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

What about those of us who never joined?

[–] Siegfried@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

We are virtuous as fuck... i salute you brother

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

He can just hire h1bs since they think they are so much better than American workers. Why does he care?

  1. Announces moderation team gutted

  2. Announces that "community notes" will handle moderation

  3. Make a bunch of moves to purge anyone in the community that might actually provide a factual "community note"

[–] gashead76@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago

Damn, I didn’t think of it quite like that, but yup, that’s exactly the result.

[–] MojoMcJojo@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

He's been taking testosterone hasn't he.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 14 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Anyone who claims someone is virtue signalling is virtue signalling. Except this one comment.

[–] spujb@lemmy.cafe 3 points 2 hours ago

i agree (and this comment here)

[–] gex@lemmy.world 27 points 6 hours ago

Anyone who stops using my product is a poo poo head

[–] Vaggumon@lemm.ee 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Well then, since 2016 I've been a Virtue signaling mother fucker. Fuck Zuck!

[–] Quexotic@infosec.pub 2 points 5 hours ago

Me too, since 2014, before it was a thing, according to Google trends. Does that make us hipsters? We did it before it was cool.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

I quit Facebook years ago because it's a shitty website full of spam.

IG has gone down the same path. It's like 70% suggested/sponsored content that's worthless at best if not disinfo, propaganda, fraud, etc.

Fash make trash.

[–] lustyargonian@lemm.ee 4 points 6 hours ago

You've been virtue signalling all this while!?

[–] Bruncvik@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

I quit Facebook because it stopped showing updates from my friends and groups I subscribed to. I couldn't care less about Zuck's political leanings as long as his product had any use for me.

[–] grid11@lemy.nl 2 points 4 hours ago

like in this app used by 2 billion unique users globally?

[–] xenomor@lemmy.world 20 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

20 years ago, a piece of shit like Mark Zuckerberg would have used a similarly meaningless term like “political correctness” instead. Made no sense then and makes no sense now. What is the problem exactly? Is there something wrong with having an ethical framework and applying it consistently? Or, having standards? Using this framing, any ideological viewpoint is inherently bad, including the nihilistic and hypocritical one that Zuckerberg himself is expressing here. It’s all just nonsense, and further evidence that the economy that plied this asshole with so much wealth is anything but a meritocracy.

I think it would also be fair to say that anyone who doesn't is also virtue signaling.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 16 points 9 hours ago

The kind of people who would be bothered by being accused of "Virtue Signaling" are also the kind of people who are aligned with the rise of fascism and enabling of racism on the platform. But do go on acknowledging that working for Meta is itself an immoral position.

[–] TheFrirish@jlai.lu 20 points 9 hours ago

So he has confirmed that Meta is, as whole, a negative hasn't he?

[–] SynopsisTantilize@lemm.ee 50 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

LMFAO virtue signal deez nuts. Fuckerberg.

I haven't had Facebook in 10 years lol. I don't have a vote on this one.

I quit before virtue signalling was a term that people used to describe things they don't like. I wonder what he would have called it back around 2012?

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 11 hours ago

What I find delicious is that he is implicitly stating that being on any Meta platform is not virtuous.

[–] ddash@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 9 hours ago

Why didn't he just say anyone who quits Meta smells like poo-poo and pee-pee? That would at least be funny.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 34 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

No its called having morals and standing by them. Virtue signaling is when you pay lip-service to a cause and don't walk the walk. Almost like zuck doing his dei stuff when it was popular and doing a 180 as soon as it becomes slightly unpopular.
