And what do you think about the new format for releases?

I think it's true that nothing captures the imagination of the community like a big new expansion, but it sounds like that's not what expansions will be going forward.

I am actually rather concerned... Isn't the expansion supposed to come out this summer? Summer is here and we haven't heard anything...

No hype to bring in the masses and it's even more difficult to hype small expansions. I'm not that optimistic, but I hope for the best.

I don't know if it was supposed to come out this summer, or if we were just supposed to get a reveal this summer. Either way, summer's not actually here yet!

We'll see what happens I guess. I still enjoy the content that's already there, and they seem to be making good changes all around (balance patches notwithstanding), so I'm very hopeful for the games future.

I reckon that (really effing hopeful) birthday release makes the most sense. I'm not too hyped either tbh, the whole Gyala debacle has been a bit of a meme for A-net, this year.

It's less of an expansion and more of a DLC. Two new maps, a new Fractal. Nothing like an actual expansion, more like a premium sized Living World update you have to pay for.

That makes me kinda sad, because as I understand it, that’s how it’s going to be indefinitely. No more expansions…

I'm afraid that ANet resources are all being used for their unannounced projects, leaving GW2 development dry. The last 2 releases have been pretty lackluster imo.

It will be interesting to see what they are working on. When you look at their job listings, it mentions Unreal Engine 5 and mulitplayer specifically.

It will be interesting, but I love GW2 and the content drought is sad. This is my most played game of all time and I feel it's being mismanaged pretty hard again. Feels like post HoT release all over again.

Lucklily I feel I still have a lot of content to get through, before I will feel the content drought. In the meantime, I just hope for the best :)

2023-08-23 - Guild Wars 2 11th Anniversary

Late August, maybe.

And what do you think about the new format for releases?

Sounds not that good on the paper and reminds me more of season pass or DLC type of content but we'll see how this will work out in the nearest feature. I want to know how much it's gonna cost and how often they're going to ask me for such purchases.

The way I see it mini expansions will be similar to past living world episodes in every way, just we need to pay a price upfront & there won't be more freebie maps. If Anet comes up with some cool expansion defining feature, I think they may make another "big" expansion yet. (I would take a long wait over useless, super forced features like the Jade Bot)
